ATOL Protection

Travel with confidence knowing your holiday bookings are protected under the UK's ATOL scheme.

What is ATOL?

ATOL stands for Air Travel Organisers' Licensing. Established in 1973 and managed by the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), ATOL is a financial protection scheme designed to protect travellers who book flight-inclusive package holidays.

It's important to note that ATOL is not travel insurance. Instead, it's a distinct protective scheme that safeguards your money and ensures you can complete your trip or receive a refund if a travel company fails.

How ATOL Protects You

When a travel company fails, ATOL protection can provide valuable assistance:

Accommodation Support

If a travel company fails while you're abroad, ATOL can help you stay at your holiday accommodation.

Financial Reimbursement

Get reimbursed for money spent replacing protected trip elements like accommodation and car hire.

Flight Home Arrangements

Depending on circumstances, ATOL can help arrange your flight home if you're stranded abroad.

Your ATOL Certificate

When you book an ATOL-protected holiday, you must receive an ATOL Certificate after making your payment. This certificate confirms your protection and identifies who is responsible for your booking. Keep this document safe - it's your proof of protection.

What's Covered

Flight-inclusive package holidays booked with an ATOL holder

ATOL-protected flights (flights without valid e-tickets upon payment)

Holiday packages that include flights as part of the booking

What's Not Covered

ATOL protection has specific limitations. The following are not covered by ATOL:

×

Medical expenses during your trip

×

Trip cancellations for personal reasons

×

Complaints about service quality or substandard conditions

×

Sickness or illness while travelling

×

Flights purchased directly from airlines with valid e-tickets upon payment

Important: We strongly recommend purchasing comprehensive travel insurance to cover medical expenses, cancellations, lost baggage, and other scenarios not covered by ATOL.

Booking Through Travel Agents

ATOL holders can sell their holidays through travel agents. This means travel agents don't need their own individual ATOL licences. When you book through us, your ATOL Certificate will clearly identify who is providing your financial protection.
